Why it sounds like that

Jeff Hanneman played a BC Rich Bich fitted with DiMarzio Super Distortions, and Kerry King played a BC Rich Mockingbird with the same pickups. Both guitarists ran Marshall JCM800 2203 heads, which supplied the muscle behind the album's rhythm tones. Producer Rick Rubin took the reverb out of the band's sound, so the guitars come across dry. Hanneman principally wrote most of the guitar parts.
- Leave reverb off the tone, the way the album does.
